We all know of the powerful healing properties of crystals. But did you know you can create crystal elixirs to receive even more benefits from their energy? Gem water or crystal infused water is a powerful way to receive the information contained in the crystals. Depending on the crystal and water used, the water can appear fresher and even tastier.

There are real benefits to creating gem water and many people like to use it as drinking water for general wellbeing, as an energizing facial or aura spritzer and as therapeutic remedies.

A study carried out by the Hygiene Consultation Centre Pestel in Germany showed the growth of bacteria is significantly slowed when water is exposed to crystals compared to regular tap water. Water that was left standing in the open that had been energised with Quartz, remained bacteria free for several weeks.

Crystal Infusion Directly in Water

Popular crystals to place directly in water for drinking include; Clear Quartz, Rose Quartz, Smokey Quartz and Amethyst.  These can ‘improve’ drinking water, not only by making it taste better and keeping it fresher for longer, but it can also make it easier for the body to absorb.

Russian Shungite is another popular favourite to use for drinking water. It helps to cleanse the water and energise it. It also has EMF protective properties that are an added bonus.

Suitable crystals to infuse directly in water are usually smooth tumbled crystals. Natural, unpolished can also be used but avoid using crystals with a matrix as it can compromise the water quality.

Using this method can take as little as 30 minutes for the water to be infused. To see what crystals are right for you, why not try a crystal a day to test suitability for your energy requirements. Then try various combinations.

It is very important to thoroughly clean any crystal you use. Avoid using crystals that have oil or wax coatings.

Crystal Elixir Crystal Elixir-5 Crystal Elixir-6

Don’t get too excited and place your entire crystal collection in your drinking water. There are some crystals that are toxic to ingest. Please see the list at the end of this blog for details.

If you are not sure if a crystal is toxic or not but you still want the energy of it, there are several ways to infuse water without direct contact with crystals.

Crystal Slab Infusion

The easiest way to infuse is to place a glass or decanter on a crystal slab. The gem water will be ready within 4 – 16 hours depending on the thickness of the glass bottom and how potent you want the infusion to be.

Test Tube Infusion

You can place any crystal in a glass or test tube then place it in a larger container like a decanter. As there is no direct contact between the crystals and the water, any crystal can be used. This method seems to have faster infusion than the slab method so you are looking at 2 – 14 hours for infusion time.

Crystal Grid Infusion

Creating a crystal grid is that safest way to energetically infuse your water. Try placing your water container in the centre, place clear quartz points in sacred geometry shapes and place your other crystals at the other end of your points. Clear quartz helps to amplify the energy of any other crystal in the grid.

Crystal Infusion for Spritzer Bottles

Spritzer or spray bottles are useful if you want an energy ‘pick me up’ during the day. It is suggested to use a method that does not involve direct contact with water for these remedies. Infusion time is usually 6 – 24+ hours. Once infused, simply spray a few pumps in your auric field.

As with any crystal practice, your intentions play the biggest part when infusing water. Be mindful of your intentions for the elixir while selecting your crystals and laying out your grid. Positive, clear energy is the best way to ensure a fantastic fusion.
