As we say goodbye to 2018 it’s the perfect time to reflect and release all the lessons we have learnt during this year and start to put our sights on the New Year ahead.
As we shift our focus to 2019, some questions may arise and we may ask ourselves:
“What do I want to manifest in 2019” or “what energy would I like to bring through this New Year”.
As we reflect on 2018 there may be some things we wish to leave behind and not bring into the New Year and when we let go of the old energy of this past year, we make room for new energy to fill the space we have created within.
Below is a ritual that can be used to release the old energy of 2018 and bring in the new energy for 2019. The best time to do this ritual is as close to New Years Day as possible:
Ritual for letting go of the past and for new beginnings:
What you will need for this ritual:
- One pot plant with potting mix and spade
- Seed: One packet of Sunflower seed (you can use any flower seeds that your prefer)
- One or more tumble stone crystals
Crystals for letting go:
- Amethyst
- Black Tourmaline
- Clear Quartz
- Selenite
- Kyanite
- Rainbow Black Obsidian
Crystals for new beginnings:
- Aventurine
- Carnelian
- Cinnabar
- Labradorite
- Amazonite
- Moonstone
- Paper and Pen (optional)
Step 1:
Choose one crystal from the list above or you may decide to choose a couple, tune in and see what feels best for you.
Once you have chosen your crystal, simply sit with and reflect on the past year and the things you wish to release and don’t want to bring into the New Year, you may also like to write a list down too.
Step 2:
When you have your list together and you have sat with your crystal, breathe in the intention of giving everything you wish to release to your crystal. Allow the crystal to take these from you.
Step 3:
When your list is complete, in your potted soil make a small hole and place your crystal within, holding that intention of releasing that which does not serve you, you may find it helpful to say out loud this intention “With this crystal I release anything that no longer serves me back to the earth”. If you have written down the list you may bury this too.
Step 4:
Now place the sunflower seeds in your right hand and your crystals for new beginnings in your left hand and sit with the intention, take a moment or to sit and reflect and breathe in your new intentions and new energy you wish to bring in the New Year. You may wish to write out your intentions on a piece of paper.
Step 5:
Place the crystals for new beginnings to one side and now you can place your sunflower seeds in the pot and cover with dirt, you may wish to say the intention: “With these seeds I now sow, I allow all new energy to flow and grow”.
Step 6:
Finally sit with your crystals for new beginnings and place around or on top of the soil of your pot plant. You may also wish to place these crystals in a bag and carry your intentions with you.
Put your pot plant where it is best for you, preferably somewhere you will see it every day and throughout 2019, water and watch it grow and nurture your new beginnings flow into your life.
